This Friday, our 3rd-6th grade students have been invited to join Randall Elementary in a community walk honoring Ruby Bridges Day. Ruby Bridges was one of the first African-American students to integrate an all-white elementary school in 1960, and her courage continues to inspire movements for equality and justice today.

Our 3rd-6th grade classes will walk from Rose to Randall Elementary and then to the District Office on Friday morning to join their school community in this special event.

Event Details:
• Date: Friday, November 14
• Wear: Purple (the color honoring Ruby Bridges)
• Rose Walk Start Time: 10:15 AM
• Walk Duration: Approximately 10:15 AM-11:30 AM
• Who: 3rd-6th graders (other grade levels may join if arranged by teacher)
• Parent Volunteers: Welcome to walk with us! Please check in at the front office first. Let us know if you plan on volunteering by signing up below!

A permission slip will be sent home today and must be returned in order for students to participate.

Students and teachers may also create signs and learn more about Ruby Bridges this week as part of our shared learning. We apologize for the short notice, but we are excited for this meaningful opportunity to stand together with another Milpitas school, celebrate courage, and show our commitment to kindness, equity, and community unity. 💛🐯

Hi families! If you are interested in volunteering to walk with us on Friday, you do not need to have filled out the paperwork since this is a one-time trip monitored by school personnel. We hope you will join us!

Our 3rd-6th grade students have been learning about her this week, so ask them to tell you what they know! Please have your students wear purple tomorrow in honor of Ruby Bridges. If you would like to join us on the walk, we still need volunteers. Check in at the front office when you arrive!
