There are so many ways to get involved and make a difference this year- whether you can join us during lunch, after school, or in the classroom, we’d love to have you on our team! Before signing up, please review the volunteer levels below so you know which application process applies to your chosen opportunity.

💛 Volunteer Opportunities

🌈 Kinder Lunch Recess Games (Level 3)
11:25–11:55 AM — Help our youngest Tigers learn to play fair, share, and have fun!
🧩 Primary Lunch Recess Games (Level 3)
11:55 AM–12:15 PM — Lead simple playground games and model great sportsmanship.
🎯 Intermediate Lunch Recess Games (Level 3)
12:21–12:40 PM — Support our 4th–6th graders in organized play and teamwork!
🏅 Afterschool Coach – Milpitas Elementary Olympics (MEOs) (Level 3)
Help train our student athletes for the big district event!
🏃 Run for Fun Coach (Level 3)
Encourage our runners and help track laps!
🎨 Room Parent (Level 2 or 3)
Support your child’s teacher with class events, communication, and celebrations.
📖 Mystery Reader (Level 2)
Be a surprise guest reader in your child’s class- it’s always a big hit!
📞 Office Volunteer (Level 2)
Help in the office with phones, visitors, or small projects (such as copies for our teachers).
📚 Library Volunteer (Level 2)
Support book checkouts, shelving, and keeping our library organized and inviting.

Before volunteering, all applicants must turn in the following:
📋 MUSD Volunteer Application
🩺 TB Test (within the last 4 years)
💉 COVID-19 Vaccination Proof
🪪 Valid Driver’s License or ID
Once your paperwork is submitted, it must be approved by the District Office before you begin volunteering. The school will notify you once approval is complete- thank you for your patience!

💛 Volunteer Levels

For Applicants:
All volunteers must provide a copy of a valid Tuberculosis (TB) test conducted within the last four
years, current COVID-19 Vaccination proof, and a valid driver’s license or identification.

🔹 Level 1 – Event Volunteers
Help with one-time events like dances, snack bars, or special celebrations (by teacher/staff invitation).
➡️ Always supervised by school staff.
➡️ No fingerprinting required.
➡️ Background check required
➡️ Submit: Application + TB Test + ID.

🔹 Level 2 – Supervised Volunteers
Regularly help in the classroom, office, or library alongside staff.
➡️ Never left alone with students.
➡️ Background check required
➡️ No fingerprinting required.
➡️ Submit: Application + TB Test + ID.

🔸 Level 3 – Unsupervised Volunteers
May work alone with students or drive students for school activities.
➡️ Examples: Recess Coaches, MEOs Coaches, Run for Fun Leaders, etc.
➡️ Fingerprint & background check required
➡️ Volunteers pay their own fingerprinting fees
➡️ Submit: Application + TB Test + ID + Fingerprint Clearance.
➡️ Exceptions: MUSD employees, police, firefighters, physicians, licensed counselors, and psychologists may submit proof of employment instead.
