🌟 Introducing Rose’s New Core Values Program! 🌟

At Rose, we want to celebrate and recognize our students in ways that reflect our Mission and Vision. Based on feedback from last year, we’re excited to launch the Rose Core Values Program!

What’s New?
 🐯 New Assemblies – Each month teachers will nominate 1–2 students who exemplify our Core Values. These students will be recognized at our ROAR Rallies instead of Top Tiger Assemblies.
 ✨ Tiger Tags, Anytime! – Students can now earn recognition throughout the year, not just once.
 📘 Core Value Lessons – Each month, students will learn about a Core Value through ready-to-go lessons and inspiring role models.
 🖼️ Core Value Posters – Posters will be proudly displayed in the office for our community to enjoy.

October Focus: Responsibility
Our very first Core Value is Responsibility: We make good choices, take care of our things, and own up to our actions.
This month, our Core Value Hero is Michelle Obama. Students will learn about her leadership and how she modeled responsibility in her life and career. Please see the attached PDF for more information! We’re thrilled to celebrate our Tigers not only for their achievements, but also for how they live out our Rose Core Values every day!

🧩 Odyssey of the Mind Comes to Rose!

For the first time, Rose students can join Odyssey of the Mind (OM)—a creative problem-solving program blending STEM, art, and storytelling.

• Who can join? TK–6 students

• Competitions: Regional Feb. 7 → State Mar. 7 → World Finals May 27–30

• Parent Commitment: Weekly meetings + competition dates

• Coaches Needed: Parent volunteers welcome (training provided)

🟠 Unity Day – October 22

Unity Day promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Across Milpitas, we’ll wear orange to stand together against bullying. 🧡

This year, we’re also raising funds for the Milpitas Inclusive PTA (MIPTA). For every Unity Day shirt or sweatshirt purchased, $4 supports MIPTA.

💻 Digital Citizenship Week – October 13–17

Each October, Common Sense Media leads Digital Citizenship Week, promoting a healthy and positive approach to media and technology.

Families can join by trying one lesson or participating all week with activities for every grade.

🏥 Health Office Reminder

Not sure if your child is well enough to stay at school? Our health office can examine them in the morning. If they need to go home, bringing them in first means the absence will not count against their record. We can also provide work to take home if available.

👻 Halloween Parade & Monster Mash Dash

Our Halloween Parade is back! 🎃
 📅 Thursday, October 31 during the ROAR Rally

• Students should arrive in costume.

• No weapons, fake blood, or overly scary costumes.

• Inflatable costumes are allowed for the parade ONLY.

• Masks may be worn during the parade ONLY.

• After the parade, students may change for the Monster Mash Dash. Please plan costumes so a quick change is possible.

Families are invited to join us for the fun!

🌍 Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill – October 16

Rose will participate in the Great ShakeOut, alongside all of MUSD. This annual event helps us practice earthquake safety steps.

Did You Know?

• Most earthquake injuries come from falling objects.

• Standing in doorways is not safe anymore—better options exist.

• Practicing ahead of time helps keep us safe!

✨ Happy Diwali to All Who Celebrate!

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, begins on Monday, October 20, 2025. Families honor traditions with lights, rangoli, festive foods, gifts, and fireworks. It is a time of joy, prosperity, and togetherness.

 Attendance Jersey Challenge Winners

This year, we kicked off an exciting challenge—to design our very own Attendance Jersey to inspire everyone to show up every day, ready to play and ready to learn. And wow—our students rose to the challenge!

We had over 100 amazing submissions filled with color, creativity, and school spirit. Every design showed us just how talented and imaginative our students are. Thank you to each and every student who participated—you truly made this contest a huge success!

Now, it’s time to celebrate the winners. We have one outstanding jersey design chosen from each TK–6th grade class who submitted a design. Let’s give a big round of applause for all of our artists, and get ready to cheer on our winners… because when it comes to attendance, it’s Game On!
