🏅 Attendance Matters Monthly Newsletter: September 2025 🏅

Posted Date: 9/03/25 (7:28 PM)

Dear Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! We’re excited to embark on our “Game On for Great Attendance!” theme, where every day at school is like a play in a championship game — and every student matters on the field.

Our September Goal:

We’re aiming for 97% school attendance at the end of September. Just like teammates rally together to win, it takes all of us — families and school — to reach the goal of having every student arrive on time and ready to learn, every day.

Why Attendance Matters (Even in Elementary School)

  • Missing just 10% of the school year — about 18 days — can significantly harm a child’s academic progress in reading, writing, and math. (Attendance Works)

  • In early elementary grades, each missed day equates to about 2.5 days of missed math instruction and 1.5 days of missed literacy learning. (crane.osu.edu)

  • Students who maintain 95% or higher attendance are far more likely to earn good grades (A’s or B’s), graduate from high school, and set themselves up for long-term success. (murrayschools.org)

  • Strong attendance habits formed now are predictive of future success: students with early good attendance are much less likely to disengage later in their academic journey. (ParentsNational Center for Education Statistics)

We Know It’s Not Always Easy

We understand that life can be unpredictable — illnesses, transportation challenges, or family responsibilities can sometimes make getting to school difficult. Please know: our priority is working with you. We’re here to listen, support, and find solutions together.

September Events

  • Ned Show Assembly (September 9): Students will learn about NED’s three messages while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks. Yo-Yos will be on sale from Sept. 10 through Sept. 16th.

  • Jersey Design Contest: One winner from each class will have their jersey design made into a poster and showcased in the hallway. Submissions are due Monday September 22 (and winners will be announced at the ROAR rally on September 26).

  • “Attendance Draft Week” (September 15-19): Classes with perfect attendance for the entire week will earn a banner for their classroom doors & sports stickers for their Chromebooks

  • Spirit Day: Sports Day! (September 19): Wear your favorite sports jersey and memorabilia to celebrate our Tiger team spirit!

  • Spirit Week: Sept. 29 - Oct. 3 (days’ themes to be announced) note: this is a minimum day week for Fall Conferences

    • October 1st: K-Pop Demon Hunters Sing Along at lunch & Lebubu Raffle (students must be present to win)

Together, We Can Win!

Let’s team up for your child’s success. Encourage daily attendance, plan ahead, set a morning routine, and communicate with us if you need help overcoming challenges. Your partnership matters now more than ever.

Let’s start the school year strong and make this year a winning season — together!

We can do this Tigers!

Warmly,

Mrs. Machado
