Dear Rose School Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I’m excited to welcome back our returning students and extend a warm greeting to the new families joining our Rose community. Our theme this year is “This Is Our Year to Shine”- a celebration of each student’s potential, our collective growth, and the vibrant community we’re building together.

We have a joyful year ahead, full of learning, celebration, and connection. Please review the information below to ensure a smooth and successful start to the school year.


🔔 Beginning of the Year Events

Tiger Talk & Welcome Event
📅 Tuesday, August 12 · 🕓 1:00-2:30 PM
Join us on campus to:
  • Meet school leaders and connect with other families
  • View your child’s classroom assignment
  • Learn about this year’s routines, events, and volunteer opportunities
  • Sign up for the Think Together after-school program
  • Enjoy treats from the Kona Ice Truck and free popcorn!
  • Take photos at our Back to School Photo Booth and play games
This event is the best way to get a head start on the school year—we hope to see you there!

Backpack Distribution (Multi-Use Room)

✅ Before the First Day of School

Aeries Authorizations & Emergency Card
  • Log in to the Aeries Parent Portal
  • Update emergency contacts and complete authorizations
  • Print and sign the Emergency Card and send it with your child on the first day
ParentSquare Setup
  • Download the ParentSquare app
  • Log in using the same email associated with Aeries
  • This is our primary communication tool- stay informed!
Teacher Assignments
  • Classroom assignments will be posted at Tiger Talk on August 12 
  • Class placements are made thoughtfully and may shift during the first 3 weeks as enrollment is finalized
  • Overflow students will be supported in a temporary classroom until permanent placement is available

📅 First Day of School – Wednesday, August 13

  • All students must be present on the first day to secure their spot
  • Minimum Day Schedule:
    • TK/K: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
    • Grades 1–6: 8:00 AM – 12:35 PM
Before Arriving on Campus:
✔️ Use the restroom
✔️ Bring a filled water bottle
✔️ Bring signed Emergency Card
✔️ Ensure emergency contacts are reachable
✔️ Make sure arrangements are made for afterschool pickup (12:00 for TK/K or 12:35 for 1st-6th)

Medical Needs?
If your student will be in need of any medication during school hours or has any medical needs we should be made aware of prior to the opening of school on August 13th or during the first week, please notify the Rose Health Clerk, Gina Hatfield through email (ghatfield@musd.org) or contact the school office. In order for medication to be kept in the school office medication permits need to be filled out by your child's doctor. Once contact is made, Ms. Hatfield can email you the necessary forms the doctor will need to fill out. Please have the completed medication permits and prescribed medication (in original packaging) turned in to the office on or by the first day of school.  

🚗 Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Arrival – Campus Opens at 7:30 AM
  • Valet drop-off for Grades 1-6
  • Enter on Roswell Drive
  • Drive through to the area with the yellow  sidewalk dots - Students may not exit vehicles in parking lot before the yellow drop-off area begins
  • Parent/driver remains in vehicle
  • Staff/Student valet will open door to assist students in exiting
  • All students will enter the campus through the gate next to the Multi-Use room and proceed to their line up area based on their grade/classroom
  • TK/K students must be walked to the primary playground
  • Parent/guardian parks in main parking lot/surrounding streets
  • Line-Up on the primary playground behind the 200 building (above the steps)
  • From Roswell Drive will use the gates between the Multi-Use Room and the office building to reach lines
  • Parent/guardian walks student to the back of the school and lines up with them in the TK/Kinder Line Up Area 
  • Breakfast begins at 7:30 AM (students eat at picnic tables; adults may eat with them)
  • You are welcome to accompany your child through the main gate to wait with them in line, but once teachers pick them up, please wait outside the gate that leads to the classrooms to ensure a smooth drop off. 
Dismissal
  • Valet pick-up for Grades 1–6
  • Students will wait on the sidewalk/steps in front of the Valet Area
  • Enter on Roswell Drive
  • Drive through to the area with the yellow  sidewalk dots - Students may not enter vehicles in parking lot before the yellow drop-off/pick-up area begins
  • Parent/driver remains in vehicle
  • Staff/Student valet will open door to assist students in entering vehicle
  • To keep traffic moving if student is not there when driver arrives, the driver will be asked to exit the area and loop back through the line or park on the surrounding streets and walk to meet their child. Waiting/parking will not be permitted in the Valet Area
  • TK/K families pick up at the Kindergarten Gate (Near Room 101)
  • Parent/guardian parks in main parking lot/surrounding streets
  • Parent/guardian walks to the Kindergarten Gate (next to room 101) to meet student.
  • Staff will verify that parent/guardian/care-giver is picking up student.
  • Students must be picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal; if they are not, they will be taken to the office to call home and wait for an adult
  • For safety/security reasons the gate at the Temple Drive pathwaty will be locked at all times. We ask that community members do not prop the gate open for others to access the campus.  Please plan for your arrival on campus accordingly.
Walking 1st - 6th Grade Students 
  • If your child is going to leave campus from the Temple Drive Path please let the teacher know - students will leave from the side gate and meet parents at the Temple Drive Path - parents may not enter campus for pickup
  • Parents who choose to walk to campus/park in surrounding area may wait in the staff parking lot.  
  • Students will be walked to the front gates on Roswell Drive by their teachers.
    • Classes in the 200 building will leave through the kindergarten gate next to room 101
    • Classes in the 400 building will leave through the center gate nearest the office
  • Students who walk home themselves will leave campus immediately upon dismissal
  • If a parent/caregiver is not present when student arrives student will wait in the Valet/pick-up area until 15 minutes after dismissal. They will be taken to the office after 15 minutes have elapsed. 
Students in on-site after school programs  (CDC/Think Together)
  • TK/Kindergarten and 1st grade students in the CDC or Think Together programs - Program Staff will meet students at dismissal and escort them to their program.
  • 1st - 6th Grade students in CDC - will leave campus through the intermediate playground gate and through the intermediate playground/lunch area to access the CDC site
  • 2nd - 6th Grade Students in Think Together will meet Think Together staff at the lunch tables.
After-School Programs
  • Think Together begins August 13 for enrolled students
  • Program runs until 6:00 PM
  • Sign-up available at Tiger Talk on August 12th
  • Priority given to students qualifying for free/reduced lunch, foster care, or homeless services

👕 Dress Code & Supplies

  • Uniforms are optional
  • Closed-toe shoes required daily
  • Label all jackets, water bottles, and backpacks with your child’s first and last name, please

🍱 Meals & Nutrition

  • Lunch is provided for all students
  • TK/K students may eat lunch after minimum-day dismissal if supervised by a parent/guardian. This year, our TK/Kinder students will have the option to have lunch during the school day on our minimum days, as well. 
  • Breakfast begins at 7:30 AM

🧒 After School Care Programs

Think Together (New for 2025–2026)

  • Sliding scale cost after-school care for TK–6 students
  • Runs daily until 6:00 PM
  • Sign up at Tiger Talk on August 12
  • Priority for students who are foster youth, experiencing homelessness, or qualify for free/reduced lunch
  • Contact the school office for support

Think Together TK/K Bridge Program

Supports families needing care from TK/K dismissal (1:20 or 12:00 on minimum days) until older sibling dismissal (2:01 or 12:35 on minimum days).

MUSD Child Development Center (CDC)

Located next to Rose Elementary, the CDC provides before- and after-school childcare for TK–6 students.

  • Include your child’s full name, teacher, reason for absence, and your contact info
  • Children with symptoms of illness must stay home and are encouraged to test for COVID-19 before returning
